At Coowonga State School, we cater for students from Prep to Year 6 in a supportive, inclusive learning environment. Our teachers work collaboratively through co-teaching to provide personalised learning experiences that target each student’s next steps in learning.
We deliver the Australian Curriculum across English, mathematics, science, humanities and social sciences, technologies, health and physical education, and the arts. Students in Years 5 and 6 participate in our languages program, studying Japanese through online lessons.
Learning experiences are carefully planned to meet the diverse needs of all students. Where possible, practical and hands-on learning activities are embedded within integrated units of work to ensure learning is engaging, meaningful and connected to real-life contexts.
A well-structured teaching, learning and assessment cycle underpins our approach to quality education. Curriculum and instruction are differentiated to support all learners, including students requiring additional learning support and those with identified strengths and giftedness. Students are well supported by a dedicated team of teachers, teacher aides and visiting teachers.
Students at Coowonga State School have access to a wide range of resources to support and extend their learning. Individual access to digital technologies enhances learning across all curriculum areas and supports collaboration, creativity and problem-solving.
